Why do I need a soil test?

The type of foundation a building needs depends on the soil conditions. A soil test helps engineers design the appropriate foundation, be it shallow or deep, to support the structure adequately as well as tailoring the foundation to the specific soil conditions ensures cost-effective construction by preventing over-engineering or costly modifications post-construction. A soil test is fundamental to ensure the building is structurally sound, safe, and complies with building codes and regulations. It's a relatively small investment compared to the potential costs and risks associated with building on inadequate or unknown soil conditions.
